Mirage A3-44 was one of 116 Mirage III aircraft delivered to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in 1966. Built by the Government Aircraft Factories (GAF) in Australia, A3-44 served primarily with 77 Squadron at RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW. After its operational service, the aircraft was displayed at the Australian Aviation Museum in Bankstown, NSW, until its closure. In 2021, volunteers from the Hunter Fighter Collection relocated and restored the Mirage, now repainted and on display at the Hunter Warbirds Aviation Attraction in Scone, NSW, where it is preserved as a piece of Australia's aviation history.
